Earthquakes staying competitive on the training pitch
The San Jose Earthquakes were out on the training pitch Thursday feverishly preparing for their road trip to Seattle this weekend. The highlight of the day was a very competitive 11 v. 11 half field scrimmage that saw the first team face off against the second team. With the confined spaces, players on both sides were required to execute tight passing sequences and good ball control. The PSA Los Gatos Storm senior team will have a golden opportunity to advance into the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup tournament this Saturday night in San Jose. While the San Jose Earthquakes long ago crashed out of qualifying for the 2010 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup tournament, one local entry still has a golden opportunity to make the final field of 40 teams. New England weekend press round-up
Both Bay Area professional soccer teams had successful trips to New England this past weekend, with FC Gold Pride winning 2-1 over the Boston Breakers and the San Jose Earthquakes securing a point in a scoreless draw against the Revolution. Apparently, our local teams are big draws back there, as both stadiums featured good-sized crowds. Maybe FIFA player of the year Marta had something to do with that at Harvard Stadium, and perhaps the presence of Quakes sensation Chris Wondolowski... Read More
