A record breaking sell out crowd of 20,231 packed Hughes Stadium in Sacramento for the inaugural home opener of the Republic FC. Here's a summary of the coverage of the big night, in which the San Jose Earthquakes forward, and Davis native, Adam Jahn scored the first ever Republic FC goal as they fell 2-1 to Harrisburg City Islanders.

The previous USLPRO attendance record was smashed, when 20,231 soccer fans turned up at Hughes Stadium in Sacramento to see the Republic FC play their first ever home opener.

San Jose Earthquakes forward, and Davis, CA native Adam Jahn headed in his first Republic FC goal. Jahn found himself participating in the game while serving a red card suspension from the San Jose Earthquakes and after injuries to Republic FC forwards Mike Fucito and Justin Braun.

QRG alum Evan Ream was on hand, amidst the media coverage of the Sacramento Republic FC with his game recap for The Davis Enterprise: Republic FC left on an island in home opener.  "We're obviously bummed not to get the win, but I'm happy to get a game in and help the team," Adam Jahn said. "We need to get you guys a win, so that's what we're going to do this week."

Bill Patterson's article in the Sacramento Bee - Republic FC loses home opener before sellout crowd at Hughes Stadium - described the contributions of the Jahn family to the home opener: Adam's sister "Erica's working real hard helping with ticket sales, and we get to see Adam play so close to home."

SB Nation's Jeremiah Oshan considered the evidence supporting the Republic's hope to secure a slot in MLS: Sacramento Republic FC sell out inaugural home opener, break USL Pro record.  These observations were echoed in the Sacramento Bee: Ailene Voisin: It's easy to see an MLS team in Sacramento.  If the sell out crowds continue to show up, MLS will surely pay attention.

Republic FC will continue its three-match home stand on Saturday, May 3 against Orange County Blues FC.  The match is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. PT and will be held at Hughes Stadium.
