Andre Luiz cleared for Sunday

San Jose’s midfield makeover now looks to be complete, with manager Frank Yallop indicating that Brazilian midfielder Andre Luiz has received his International Transfer Clearance, and is in contention to start on Sunday against Seattle.

The Quakes’ latest signing comes on the heels of last week’s acquisition of Salvadoran international Ramon Sanchez. And while a calf injury could limit Luiz’s minutes, Yallop indicated that his intention is to pair him with Sanchez in the center of the San Jose midfield.

“The way [Andre Luiz] trained on Friday, he should be fine,” said Yallop.

there is no such thing as unadulterated good news in quakesland…..last week there were concerns about sanchez after a slight ankle tweak leading up to the dc united match….now we get the news that andre luiz is in the mix to start, but………he has a calf issue

nothing comes easy for this crew

If ALM turns out to be another failure by Frank and John, expect the fans to go apeshit.

  3. I wonder why we are able to get all this great talent. Great players gone fragile are no good – we need these guys on the pitch at 100%.

    Crossing fingers.

Meanwhile, how long until these guys understand how to play with each other? It isn’t instant. Normally we’d expect the pre-season to give them the opportunity to understand how each other plays…

Replacing Corrales and Elliott in the center of the midfield is the first step to getting better. Sanchez did alright last week. He’s had another week to get used to the guys. Andre Luiz has been in camp for a week. So he may not yet be on the same page as everyone else, but he got to be better than Corrales, Elliott, or Convey. So this is movement in the right direction. But yeah, it will take these guys another week or two to start showing what they’ve got. We needed this signings before the season started.
