Glinton still feeling the pain
By Jeff Carlisle · July 1, 2008
San Jose forward Gavin Glinton trained with the team for the first time in several weeks on Tuesday, but afterwards revealed that he’s still feeling considerable pain in his surgically repaired groin.
Glinton traveled to Germany in mid-May to have hernia surgery from renowned hernia-ologist Dr. Ulrike Muschaweck. But the Quakes’ forward has been slow to recover, and now admits that the surgery hasn’t done him much good.
“[The groin] is really uncomfortable,” admitted Glinton. “It’s really discouraging to be honest, but I’m through the feeling-sorry-for-myself part, and I’m just trying to find what the next thing is to get this thing right.”
That “next thing” includes the possibility of additional surgery, but in the meantime Glinton will continue to train in the hope that he can manage the pain and gain a sufficient level of fitness to play in competitive games again.

i feel for the guy , but he’s just not very good. we freed up 33,000 from vide, and glinton earns 60,000 that’s pretty good money to get one decent forward or any other position. plus glinton has bounced around the usl and mls so much i’ve lost track. there’s a reason no other team in the league will touch him. i believe mls is past these kind of players. (level wise ).
I think the reason why Glinton left MLS previously was due to a career-threatening injury he picked up while on international duty. He stopped playing and then came back a few years later by way of the USL after he had recovered. If he hadn’t been injured, his career could have turned out much differently.
I hope he still gets some time to get healthy and show what he can do.
