U.S. vs. Barbados - Howard out

By Jeff Carlisle · June 15, 2008

Not that it will matter too much, but Tim Howard sustained a lower back injury during training on Friday, and as a result, will not play in today’s World Cup qualifier against Barbados. Brad Guzan will likely take his place, while Matt Reis has been called in as a backup.

According to a U.S. Soccer spokesman, Howard is listed as day-to-day, and will be reevalutated during the week to see if he will be available for the return leg. My guess is that if the U.S. gets the result they expect today, that Howard won’t travel to Barbados, but that is informed speculation on my part.
