Yallop denies Doherty link

By Jeff Carlisle · June 3, 2008

It looks like San Jose head coach Frank Yallop is the proverbial last-to-know when it comes to the team’s interest in former Norwich City player Gary Doherty.

The San Jose Mercury News reported last Friday that the out-of-contract defender was in talks regarding a possible move to San Jose, but following Tuesday’s practice session,  Yallop denied having any interest in the Irish international, saying, “That’s the first I’ve heard of it…I’ve not mentioned [Doherty] at all, and no one has said a word to me about him.”

When asked if he had made any inquiries about Doherty, Yallop said, “No. To tell you the truth, nothing, nothing at all.”

G.M. John Doyle also denied having any link to Doherty, stating, “We’re not interested in him.”

as a loyal Spurs supporter, i can say that i survived one stint with GD, but I don’t know if I could do it again… he is NOT the type of player we need…
