Johnson, Corrales back in training; Alvarez sits

The receipt of Andre Luiz’s International Transfer Certificate wasn’t the only good news San Jose received on Friday. The sight of Ryan Johnson and Ramiro Corrales both back in full training also warmed the heart of Quakes manager Frank Yallop.

Johnson was his usually rambunctious self during Friday’s session, while Corrales slid in at left back. Yallop didn’t sound 100% sure that both players would play this Sunday against Seattle, but with an extra day of rest this week, he certainly was leaning in that direction.

“Ryan is Ryan, he wants to play no matter what,” said Yallop. “But like I said to him, we need his robust self, not timid Ryan. But if he says he’ll be ready to go, he’ll be ready.

“We need some strength and power, and Ryan gives us that. I think even if he doesn’t play particularly well, he makes it difficult for his opponents to relax.”

Yallop added that if Corrales recovers well from Friday’s workout, he will also probably start on Sunday.

“He’s not 100%,” said Yallop of Corrales. “But I think he can probably get through [the Seattle match].”

Arturo Alvarez, meanwhile, was a spectator for much of Friday’s workout. Alvarez did some running on the side, but according to Yallop, he still felt some soreness, making it more likely that he’ll sit out this weekend’s match.

as long as corrales stays at leftback. please no more midield for him.

  4. left back or bench, please.

  5. Joseph says:

even left back might not be a wise move considering thespeed Seattle has on the wings.

I agree with joseph, and not only that but Zaher has done really well and doesn’t deserved to be benched I think.

william, your right that zaher has been pretty solid and doesn’t deserve to be benched just because corrales is back. we’ll see but if we don’t see corrales again i’m more than ok w/ that. at the very least he needs to take a big pay cut next year.
