Thursday update
The Earthquakes are taking the day off, but the Solar-Powered Soccer Blog stands once again at the ready to provide you with the latest from the Bay Area soccer universe.
First, though, a video. I was looking for a YouTube soundtrack for today and found this instead: a 15-minute presentation by Mythbusters co-host Adam Savage about his particular take on the creative process, via a sculpted dodo skeleton and the Maltese Falcon. It may not interest all of you but what the heck — it’s way too cool not to share.
On to the news:
- Metro‘s Gary Singh turns in a wonderful article on this weekend’s San Jose Earthquakes 35th anniversary celebration and reunion. Highly recommended reading.
- Ridge Mahoney has a story in USA Today on the success of the Seattle Sounders, this weekend’s opponent for San Jose.
- The Washington Freedom, who face FC Gold Pride on Saturday, beat the Boston Breakers 1-0 last night.
- Mercury News columnist Ann Killion turns in her last column today, after 21 years with the paper. I haven’t always agreed with her, but her departure is a loss to the soccer community. She is passionate about the sport, particularly women’s soccer, and has always treated the game with the respect it deserves. Bon voyage, Ann, and best of luck in your future endeavors.

how’s it looking for andre luiz to have his ITC in hand for sunday’s match???
is really necessary to have an update about having nothing to report? Just take the day off and enjoy summer.
I think Adam has way too much time on his hands is OCD. However, that 17 minutes was way too cool to pass up.
Loved that clip. Super-nerdy.
