Quakes Cast Episode 6: You win some, you lose some

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, as the San Jose Earthquakes ambushed DC United at The Buck midweek, but fell victim to the Vancouver Whitecaps at BC Place on the weekend. Your podcast captains Kelly Gray and Robert Jonas sink their teeth into both games and talk about the performances to remember — and a few that may soon be forgotten. Chief among all the stories is the continued excellence being put forth by Chris Wondolowski, who scored three goals in the two games and was named MLS Player of the Week.

Looking ahead to the weekend, the Earthquakes will try to get back on the winning track when they host road warriors Chivas USA. Without a single point of their season total of nine earned at The Home Depot Center, the Goats are struggling to find the back of the net. Adam Serrano, Chivas USA beat writer for MLSSoccer.com, joins the show to preview the weekend match. Given the breadth of coverage Adam provides from Los Angeles, he also shares some thoughts from the Earthquakes early week Reserve League draw at the Los Angeles Galaxy. No, there is not truth to the rumor that Adam actually lives within the bowels of The HDC!

Kelly and Robert finish things off with their own thoughts on facing Chivas, including throwing out some ideas on how the Quakes might cope with the temporary loss of Marvin Chavez to injury — Sam Garza, anyone? And speaking of speed, your intrepid hosts offer a glimpse into their training techniques in advance of the 5K/10K Quakes Challenge run on May 25. Note to listeners, you are better off following your own training regimes than taking advice from these guys!

A podcast so exciting that even Gus Johnson himself hyperventilates when listening, the QuakesCast will take you on a thrill ride covering all the Earthquakes news and views worth discussing.

The QuakesCast is always open to questions from listeners, so keep the conversation going with your comments and questions on Twitter. Kelly and Robert will get to the best questions and comments from Earthquakes fans each and every week of the season, so get involved today!
