San Jose Earthquakes versus Seattle Sounders: Game Thread from Buck Shaw Stadium

Celebrate good time, c'mon!
Celebrate good time, c'mon!

The Earthquakes come off a week of rest. The Sounders come off an emotional draining US Open Cup loss on Wednesday. On the surface, it looks like the advantage is in favor of San Jose.

However, don't sleep on Seattle. The midweek loss to Sporting Kansas City will sting, but this is the same side that destroyed the Los Angeles Galaxy last weekend. Seattle and San Jose are the only two teams in MLS that have yet to lose two league matches in a row this season, and that streak will continue tonight as both sides have lost only five times all year.

While the Seattle side will see some changes from their last game, the Earthquakes will feature a starting XI consistent with that which played through a busy July:

Jon Busch

Steven Beitashour Victor Bernardez Jason Hernandez Justin Morrow

Marvin Chavez Sam Cronin Rafael Baca Shea Salinas

Chris Wondolowski Steven Lenhart

The Earthquakes bench should feature Simon Dawkins, Sam Garza, Khari Stephenson and the like, but will be without super-sub Alan Gordon who is serving a two game suspension for yellow card accumulation and a red card earned in the last match against Chicago.
