After Clint Dempsey was pulled from the starting eleven just after the team completed warm-ups, Chris Wondolowski stepped up and played 60 minutes for the U.S. men's national team in a 2-0 win against Azerbaijan in an international friendly at Candlestick Park.
Wondolowski had a pair of excellent scoring chances in the first half, both headers that the Azerbaijan goalkeeper was forced to save. The two goals came later in the game from Mix Diskerud and Aron Johannsson, after Wondo had been subbed off.
