The San Jose Earthquakes host FC Dallas on Saturday, May 10 at Buck Shaw Stadium, presented by Gordon Biersch. Kickoff is 7:30 p.m. PT on CSNBA, 1590 KLIV and 1370 KZSF.
Krazy George will be on hand as part of the Earthquakes' 40th Anniversary celebration this month; Saturday's match will be played nearly 40 years to the day of the two teams' first meeting on May 11, 1974 - a 4-3 win for San Jose. To commemorate the occasion, the Earthquakes will induct 1974 squad member Johnny Moore into the club's Hall of Fame during a ceremony at halftime. Bring your disco shoes to boogie on down to the pre-game playlist, which will have a 1970s theme.
FC Dallas (5-4-1, 16 pts.) enter tonight's match third in the Western Conference with 16 points from their first 10 games. They're coming off a midweek 2-1 loss against Seattle Sounders FC in the Pacific Northwest. FC Dallas played without their star playmaker Mauro Diaz, who will miss the next 6-10 weeks with a knee injury. Among the key pieces for this squad are Panamanian striker Blas Perez and Brazilian defender Michel, who leads the squad with four goals so far in 2014.
The San Jose Earthquakes (1-3-4, 6pts), playing their third game in eight days, will be without defender Andreas Görlitz who underwent season-ending surgery to repair a torn ACL in his right knee. Görlitz, 32, suffered the injury during Wednesday's 0-0 tie against the Colorado Rapids at Buck Shaw Stadium. The Earthquakes offense created several chances on the night, seven of which were on target, all stopped by Colorado goalkeeper Clint Irwin. San Jose will be without Yannick Djalo, Steven Lenhart and perhaps Clarence Goodson, who missed the mid week game with an ankle injury. With the injuries mounting at the end of this busy week, look for some of the younger players to see some action.
