Sam Cronin's second goal in two games was a perfectly executed combination play in the 18-yard box, when Chris Wondolowski rolled a pass back to Cronin, who tucked his shot inside the far post, and past the outstretched arms of Real Salt Lake goalkeeper Nick Rimando. The goal was Cronin's second of the season while Wondolowski racked up his fourth assist.
The Real Salt Lake equalizer came from the penalty spot, midway through the first half after forward Olmes Garcia went down in the box; Javier Morales tucked away the spot kick.
Wondolowski's assist gives him five goals and four assists since returning from the 2014 FIFA World Cup. He has a goal or an assist in seven of his nine matches following his tour with the United States Men's National Team.
The Earthquakes next game is on the road, Sunday, Sept. 7 against the Portland Timbers at Providence Park The game begins at 2 p.m. PT and will air live on ESPN 2, 1590 KLIV and 1370 KZSF.
