In a summer when it seems like he has played for everyone, except the Earthquakes, Tommy Thompson is all the talk in San Jose. The 18-year old has excelled on loan with the Sacramento Republic FC, featured for the U.S U-20 men's national team in an invitational tournament, and even played in the Homegrown Player game as part of MLS All-Star week in Portland. He knows he needs to play games, and he is out there getting it done.
When he did don an Earthquakes uniform, his first time since a cameo at the tail end of the Quakes 1-0 loss at Toronto FC, it was for an impressive 45 minute shift in their scoreless draw with Atletico Madrid at Candlestick Park. Thompson caught the eyes of the over 15,000 in attendance that Sunday evening, but most Earthquakes supporters probably did not catch the game (yes, it was on television).
Have no fear. Quakes fan Seby has you covered. Though the magic of video editing, he has created a tight 4 minute video of all of Thompson's touches against defending La Liga champions Atleti. Missed his one-one-one with the 'keeper? -- Watch it here. His speedy runs right at defenders? -- Those are here too. We are not sure if Seby is a regular reader of Center Line Soccer, but if he is, thank you!
