Save The Date: Earthquakes to Face Sacramento Republic FC in Preseason on Feb. 21

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose Earthquakes will play Sacramento Republic FC on Saturday, Feb. 21 in a preseason friendly at Bonney Field, the club announced today. The Earthquakes also announced the Republic will return as the club's USL PRO affiliate for the 2015 season.

The match will kick off at 5 p.m. PT and ticket information will be announced at a later date. The remainder of San Jose's preseasons schedule will also be announced at a later date.

Sacramento was the Earthquakes' USL PRO affiliate in 2014. Through the partnership, the Earthquakes sent four players on loan to Sacramento during the season. That list included Adam Jahn, Tommy Thompson, Mike Fucito and JJ Koval. Jahn was among the team's leading scorers with seven goals in 22 games, including appearances in each of their playoff games en route to a USL PRO Championship.

The Earthquakes will open their Great Soccer Ball Relay in Sacramento Thursday afternoon. The relay will take the official match ball for the club's first game at Avaya Stadium across Northern California in an Olympic Torch style event. Participants in Sacramento will dribble the length of a soccer field before passing off to the next person. The event kicks off at 3:30 p.m. PT at the Capitol Building and ends in Old Town near K Street and Firehouse Alley.
