Will Simon Dawkins Return To San Jose?

Quakes would get first refusal if the Jamaican international returns to MLS

Word is there’s a chance Simon Dawkins could be returning to San Jose. The Jamaican international had a major impact on the team in the 2012-13 season. In addition to his midfield mastery, Dawkins scored 14 goals in 53 appearances for the Earthquakes.

According to the English press Dawkins, who is currently with second-tier English Championship side Derby County, is unhappy about the fact that he has not featured in the league for the Rams this season.

After leaving San Jose at the end of the 2012-13  Dawkins returned to Tottenham Hotspur, who held his contract, and was almost immediately loaned to Aston Villa. He spent the greater part of the next season on the Villa bench before being loaned to Derby County, where he eventually signed to make his move permanent.

During his time at San Jose Dawkins brought a whole other level of vision and skill to the Quakes midfield. Imagine him paired with forward moving midfielder Garcia. If England veteran Jordan Stewart returns to fitness at the back with Clarence Goodson and Victor Bernardez, and Chris Wondolowski increases his goal strike rate up front, the San Jose Earthquakes could be a regular handful next season.
