The San Jose Earthquakes announced today that they will host the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Round of 16 match against the LA Galaxy at Avaya Stadium on July 1. The bracket for the final four rounds of the tournament was determined on Thursday in a draw conducted by U.S. Soccer in its Chicago office.
The 2015 Open Cup features a fixed bracket for the first time in its history. The Earthquakes and Galaxy represent two of the four clubs in the West region alongside the Portland Timbers and Real Salt Lake. The winner of the Timbers-RSL matchup will host the West final on July 21 or July 22.
San Jose advanced to the Round of 16 by defeating Sacramento Republic FC 6-5 on penalty kicks at Avaya Stadium on June 16.

Fans hoping to see former Liverpool and England captain Steven Gerrard play his debut game will have to wait a while longer. Gerrard's debut for the LA Galaxy has been penciled in for July 11.
