Quakes Season Ticket Holders On Club Jerseys

Faces of Quakes Season Ticket Holders Faces on the Back of Club Jerseys in August

The San Jose Earthquakes will wear jerseys featuring the faces of season ticket holders on the numbers on players' backs for the entire month of August. The MLS-wide initiative will debut this weekend and Quakes fans will see their club wearing the product for the first time on Sunday, August 2 when the team hosts the Portland Timbers at Avaya Stadium, beginning at 2 p.m. For fans unable to attend, the match, which is presented by A&W, will be broadcast live on ESPN2, 1590 KLIV and 1370 KZSF.

Earthquakes fans wishing to purchase a jersey with the unique numbering can place an order beginning at the match on Sunday. Additionally, fans who already own a plain-back jersey can order the numbering to be later added for $30.

Each club made this initiative available to a specific number of qualifying season ticket holders who used a portal on the club's website. Those season ticket holders selected a number (0-9) and the location within that number -- similar to selecting a seat for air travel -- and uploaded their picture.

MLS clubs will wear these special numbers for all regular season games during the month of August. All jerseys -- home, road and alternate -- will feature the numbers. Fans will have the opportunity to customize jerseys and additional merchandise with these special numbers at their club's official stadium store.

MLS will be the first league to utilize this platform, which is provided by Playing2. The Mexican National Team, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid are among several teams in other countries that have used this platform to bring their fans closer to the game. The numbers are being produced by Unisport, the official provider of authentic MLS letters and numbers.
