The San Jose Earthquakes are renowned for their celebration of the diversity of their fan base -- the 2016 promotional schedule includes Mexican, Greek, Italian, Portuguese and Vietnamese Heritage nights.
The Earthquakes will continue the tradition for the 2016 MLS All Star game -- what better way to celebrate the Premier League visitors Arsenal FC than with British Heritage Night on July 28th? Everyone at Center Line Soccer is chuffed to bits.
And nothing says "Best of British" quite like their cuisine - so for the peckish fan, the concession stands will be filled with scrummy British fare such as tea and crumpets, meat pies at half time (cheese and onion for vegetarians), and even Soreen malt loaf with butter (preferred by Simon Dawkins), or without (preferred by Jordan Stewart). Chips with everything - brilliant!
Fans can wash that all down with half price Pimms and lemonade, Gin and Tonics and Boddingtons - though LOBINA will have to reconfigure their beer cooler to "warm" for the expanded selection of British real ales. The sprogs will hand over their dosh for Vimto, Irn-Bru and Robinson's lemon barley water. Nice one Cyril!
Center Line's own kit nerd, Robert Jonas, has already ordered the specially designed MLS All Star shirt, which will be complemented on the night by Union Jack shorts courtesy of the Lescott-Stewart fashion line -- a menswear brand with a distinctly British aesthetic. Smashing stuff.
After the British and US anthems, Daniel Craig, in what might be his last appearance as James Bond, will parachute into Avaya Stadium with the game ball. If the final score goes against the Earthquakes, Doctor Who will travel back to half time for a chinwag with Dom Kinnear about which substitutions he should be making. Bob's your uncle!
The ticket demand for the grockles is expected to be incredibly high, so Banksy has been commissioned to paint in some new game day ticket booths along the north wall. For fans still unable to get tickets to the MLS All Star Game, the match will be broadcast on in the UK BBC Radio 5 Live , Sky Sports, and BT Sports. US fans can tune in to PBS, and will find the optional comedy laugh track on the SAP channel. Easy peasy.
If you want to have a gander at your favorite Earthquakes players play some footy at this Great British extravaganza at Avaya on Thursday July 28th, be sure to cast your votes in the giant red pillar-boxes at either end of LOBINA by noon on April 1st.
