The San Jose Earthquakes opened their 2017 preseason camp this week, and despite the lack of many familiar faces, it got off to a great start.

Chris Wondolowski and David Bingham are currently training with the U.S. men’s national team, so they won’t join their Quakes teammates until early February. Anibal Godoy, just back from Panama’s Copa Centroamericana campaign was back in San Jose, but he was excused from on-field training. Simon Dawkins sat out practice with a sore knee, but he was expected to take to the field later in the week.

With so many veterans absent, it was the new Quakes that took center stage. All four Earthquakes draft picks participated, with first pick Jackson Yueill looking sharp in short-field scrimmages. The club’s second-ever Homegrown Player signing was also there, as defender Nick Lima looked comfortable and confident.

Center Line Soccer photographer Lyndsay Radnedge was also there, roaming the sidelines and getting some great shot of Day One of the preseason. Her photo gallery is below; let us know what you think.
