The San Jose Earthquakes have been very busy this off-season, as new general manager Jesse Fioranelli has stacked the roster with a whole host of international signings. The moves look good on paper, and as evidenced by their contributions in a 4-1 preseason demolition of Sacramento Republic FC last weekend, even better on the field.
But is not just the player roster that got an upgrade at Avaya Stadium this season. Even the concessionaires have upped their game for the 2017 MLS season, adding a slew of tasty items that sate the hunger for food, just as the Quakes satisfy the hunger for wins.
The Asian Chicken Wraps (see photo above) are sure to be a popular choice, as are the new Pulled Pork Nachos. Upgrades to some of the items from the previous seasons are also anticipated, but likely the pièce de ré·sis·tance will be a warm bowl of America’s favorite comfort food.
“We added a macaroni and cheese dish this year that you can add on pulled pork or brisket,” shared Avaya Stadium head chef Travis. “You’ll see it at some of our concession stands as well as the suites.”
Meat and cheese — what’s not to love — in a combination that will bring more smiles to the face than a Jahmir Hyka dribble drive to the goal.
For those with a more vegetarian slant, Travis promises some top-notch salad options as well, though he did admit that there were some sure to be crowd favorites for carnivorous Quakes fans.
“You are sure to like the Big Dog,” an over-sized sausage with a tempting blend of spices, “with lots of peppers and onions.”
The food experience at Avaya Stadium has always been one of its better features — the parade of food trucks in the Epicenter fan-zone will also be a consistent presence again this season — but Travis always sees room for improvement, and he promised that there will be even more to anticipate as the Quakes ready to open their 2017 season against the Montreal Impact this Saturday evening.
“We will have even more new items to announce as we move forward.,” said Travis.
From the field to the stands, and even in the kitchens, it looks like everyone with the Quakes is #ForwardAsOne.
