Today JT Marcinkowski and Jackson Yueill took the next step in the national team careers when they were called up to the US Men’s National U-23 Team for their upcoming friendlies on March 22 and March 24 against Egypt and the Netherlands. Both have represented the men’s national team at younger levels, but this is their first call up to the U-23’s.

Marcinkowski signed a homegrown player contract before last season making him the third player in Quakes history to do so after Tommy Thompson in 2014 and Nick Lima in 2017. Marcinkowski spent most of last season on loan with the Quakes affiliate Reno 1868 FC and helped get them into the USL playoffs with a plus 18 goal differential. He was thrown into the fire the last month of last season and struggled to make an impact on a sinking ship, but he looked like he could the Quakes starter for the foreseeable future. Right now he is sharing minutes with Marr Bersano in Reno. The Quakes love themselves some goalkeepers.

Jackson Yueill started 15 matches for the Quakes last year and looks ready to make himself a fixture in the starting lineup soon. His experience with the national team is not as extensive as Marcinkowski’s, but this is an excellent opportunity to show the country that he deserves more minutes on the national level. We all saw how a good January camp by Nick Lima make a lot of people question whether DeAndre Yedlin’s RB spot was in jeopardy.

The game against Egypt is set for March 22nd at with a 9 am kickoff time Pinatar Arena in San Pedro del Pinatar, Spain, and the Netherlands is on March 24 in the same stadium with the same 9 am kickoff time.
