Introducing the 2020 San Jose Earthquakes player postmortem series

Looking back at the season, one player at a time.

MLS: Los Angeles FC at San Jose Earthquakes Stan Szeto-USA TODAY Sports

The San Jose Earthquakes had a solid season in 2020, I think most would agree. Matias Almeyda’s crew sometimes played great, sometimes terribly, but they showed overall improvement and were actually a lot of fun to watch at times.

To put a definitive cap on the season that was, we’re going to embark on a look back at each player’s season in 2020 for the Quakes. Everyone will get a look in, whether they played for a few minutes or every game, and we’ll work our way through the squad.

I find this exercise to be illuminating, because in addition to just taking stock of what each player did in a season, it gives me a chance to take a look back, look at the numbers vs. what I remember (which is sometimes a surprise), and sharing any impressions or anecdotes that may not have come up previously.

Hope you enjoy these posts as they drop, and feel free to leave your impressions as we work our way through the squad.
