San Jose Earthquakes goalkeeper JT Marcinkowski has been called up to the U.S. Men’s National Team to replace David Ochoa, who left the ongoing camp due to a quad injury.
The USMNT are training and will host El Salvador in a friendly Wednesday in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. Marcinkowski is the second addition from the Quakes to Gregg Berhalter’s roster, joining Jackson Yueill.
The roster is quite young and inexperienced, based mostly in North America because it’s outside the FIFA window, and Marcinkowski, who has been called up twice previously for the USMNT but has yet to make his senior team debut internationally, could potentially see that against El Salvador. Of course, with the Quakes’ GK joining late, he may also have an uphill climb to get on the field in the match, you never know.
He’s joining Bill Hamid from D.C. United and Benfica’s CJ Dos Santos as the goalkeepers on the roster at this stage. Congrats to JT and best of luck in getting another look and looking to impress Berhalter and staff over the coming week.
