A new report claims the San Jose Earthquakes have petitioned the city of San Jose to rename a street next to Earthquakes Stadium to “Wondo Way” in honor of legendary forward Chris Wondolowski.
Elliott Almond of The Mercury News reported over the weekend that the street, currently called Champion Drive, has been petitioned by Quakes vice president Chris Gennuso for the name change, which could take several months to accomplish. The street is currently a dirt road, although the report claims there are plans to pave it eventually. Either way, don’t be shocked to hear official word on this at some point in the coming months.
