On Thursday Major League Soccer announced the league would suspend games for the next 30 days due to the spread of the coronavirus, and the San Jose Earthquakes followed up that news to announce the state of several upcoming events at Earthquakes Stadium.

U.S. Soccer cancelled the April 14 friendly for the U.S. Women’s National Team against Brazil at Earthquakes Stadium. The Quakes announced all ticket sales will be fully refunded for that game.

In addition, Earthquakes Stadium was set to host a friendly between Chivas de Guadalajara and Club León on March 28, but that game has been rescheduled for Oct. 10. Tickets already purchased will be honored for the rescheduled game, while those seeking refunds are advised to check in with their source of purchase.

Furthermore, the Bacon and Beer classic has been moved from April 4 to July 18, and the “Heart and Soles Run” will be a virtual run, with no event at the stadium on March 28 but participants being sent a shirt, bib and medal to complete the run on their own time.

In other news, the Quakes academy has suspended play for boys and girls in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy per that organization’s order, through the end of April, with the Spring Cup on April 29-May 4 canceled. So the kids will have to take a break to hopefully weather the coronavirus storm.

As always, please stay safe, wash your hands and limit outside contact where you can. Hopefully if we all take proper measures, this will help bring back all the fun sports we love that much faster.
