2012 was a landmark year for the San Jose Earthquakes and Chris Wondolowski. The team, known as the Goonies, won the Supporters’ Shield that year, and Wondo won the MLS Golden Boot and was named MLS MVP that season.

Now, you can watch a classic from that season, as NBC Sports Bay Area will re-air the July 14, 2012 game between the Quakes and Real Salt Lake on Saturday at 2 pm PT, as part of their full Bay Area sports programming during the coronavirus shutdown.

Notable in the game was a hat trick from Wondolowski, one of two he scored in the MLS regular season that year, en route to tying the then-MLS record of 27 goals in a season. Those hat tricks in 2012 were the last times he scored at least three goals in a season in league play until 2019, when he scored four goals in a game against the Chicago Fire to break the MLS all-time scoring record.

NBC Sports will be showing select Quakes games over the next few weeks, on the weekend, while NBC Sports California will air replays of Quakes’ games too, primarily on Tuesday. You can find the listings on the networks’ website for more details.
