More San Jose Earthquakes classics are on tap on local TV, with the latest to air coming Sunday afternoon, as a 2016 win over Toronto FC will be re-aired on NBC Sports Bay Area starting at 2 pm PT.
This game is low-key one of my favorites in recent MLS history. At Avaya Stadium, Quincy Amarikwa gave San Jose the lead at the half-hour mark, before Anibal Godoy and Alberto Quintero both picked up red cards on either side of halftime. TFC tied the game up just before the break, but while it seemed like only a matter of time before the dam broke and Toronto started cruising, especially with the teams’ divergent fortunes in the 2016 season. But that isn’t in fact how it played out, with the Quakes demonstrating that’s why you play the games.
Like I said, this is one of my favorite random regular-season games in recent years in all of MLS. If you need something to do on Sunday at 2 pm PT, tune into NBC Sports Bay Area to catch this unlikely win by the Quakes.
