After a long wait, the MLS is Back Tournament group stage schedule is set, and we know the road for the San Jose Earthquakes in the competition, which will stretch July 8-Aug. 11 in Orlando.
The Quakes will open their slate Friday, July 10 against the Seattle Sounders at 7:30 pm PT, that game to air on ESPN and ESPN Deportes.
Next, San Jose will take on the Vancouver Whitecaps on Wednesday, July 15 on 7:30 pm PT, on TUDN.
They’ll wrap up the group stage with a meeting against FC Dallas on Monday, July 20 at 5 pm PT, on TUDN.
Initial impressions coming out of this are that the Quakes dodged a bullet with no 6 am PT game (that’s a thing!) and they are arguably getting the toughest game, against the Sounders, first. I think all teams are bound to be sloppy and for timing and cohesion to be off, but at least the Quakes can put most of their energy towards arguably their toughest game right off the bat and get that out of the way first regardless of outcome.
For now, clear your schedules, mark your calendars, and if everyone can stay safe and healthy, we’ll see MLS back in action pretty soon.
