The San Jose Earthquakes have taken a big trip to Cancún, Mexico the past two preseasons, a trip that appears to help set the tone and give the team a chance to bond together away from the spotlight.
This year, with the complications of the coronavirus pandemic, it doesn’t look like there will be a trip back to Cancún, but the Earthquakes have still hit the road, as they’ve gone south and are in the middle of a two-week training stint together in Santa Barbara.
Tommy Thompson was pretty impressed with the surroundings, and if you’ve ever visited Santa Barbara (I once watched a friend get married right on the beach there, it was magical) you know it’s a pretty, pretty nice place.
Feels good to be back.

The club said they will release a preseason game schedule at a later date. In recent preseasons, they’ve kept most preseason game info close to the vest, but we’ll keep you posted on updates and info about the scrimmage slate as we learn more.
