El Salvador’s U-23 national team held another mini-camp this week ahead of the Concacaf Olympic qualifying tournament coming up, and San Jose Earthquakes midfielder Eric Calvillo was called up to train with Hugo Perez’s squad once again.
The call-up comes after Calvillo officially acquired his Salvadoran passport, which should help pave the way for him to represent El Salvador internationally.
Ready to represent El Salvador.

Calvillo even spoke to the press during the camp.

And while Perez noted that the players called up to the mini-camp may not all make the cut to get selected for the Olympic qualifying roster, I think there’s a very good chance Calvillo will be on the plane to Guadalajara for the tournament. We should find out for sure in a few days, anyway. I think this is a good step for his career and hope he rocks out on the international stage if he gets called up for the tournament. We’ll see what happens.
