Chris Wondolowski put in a vintage performance on Friday, and on Monday, he got the reward for his heroics, as the San Jose Earthquakes striker was voted MLS Player of the Week for Week 4 of the 2021 season.
Wondo came off the bench for the Earthquakes against Real Salt Lake in Rio Tinto Stadium in the 2nd half, and scored a brace to overturn a 1-0 RSL lead and make it a 2-1 Earthquakes win.
His first goal came in the 83rd minute, as he cleaned up a rebound off David Ochoa’s save to tie up the game.

Then he scored the winner in the 87th minute off a peach of a cross by Carlos Fierro, heading it in to make no mistake.

Wondo is the second Quakes player to win MLS Player of the Week in as many weeks, joining Cade Cowell’s selection in Week 3. This is Wondolowski’s first MLS Player of the Week honor since Week 21 of the 2020 season when he...scored two goals in a win over RSL.
Obviously congrats to Wondo on the honor and may this vein of form never end for the legend.
