Earthquakes’ Jackson Yueill called up to U.S. roster for Nations League Finals

As expected, he’s on the plane for the first international action of the summer.

San Jose Earthquakes midfielder Jackson Yueill has been named to Gregg Berhalter’s 23-man U.S. Men’s National Team squad for the 2021 Concacaf Nations League Finals, U.S. Soccer announced on Monday.

Yueill will be part of the roster that will face Honduras in the semifinal on June 3, and depending on the outcome, they’ll play either Costa Rica or Mexico in either the final or third-place match on June 6. All games will be played at Mile High Stadium in Denver.

Prior to the Nations League games, the USMNT will play a tune-up friendly in Europe, on Sunday against Switzerland in St. Gallen. That game will be broadcast on ESPN, UniMás and TUDN at 11 am PT.

As a result of the call-up, Yueill is expected to miss Saturday’s Earthquakes game, the California Clasico against the LA Galaxy at Dignity Health Sports Park. Considering Yueill is the captain and plays nearly all the time for the Quakes, he will likely be missed, but this likely means Judson will get the start alongside Eric Remedi. After Saturday’s game, San Jose are not scheduled to play again until June 19.
