The San Jose Earthquakes announced Thursday they will be holding a COVID vaccine event next Thursday, June 10, at PayPal Park from 4:30-7 pm.

Families are welcome to attend provided at least one person needs their first dose of the COVID vaccine and is willing to get it there, and the event will include 20 percent off merchandise at the stadium, a food truck, activities for kids who tag along and the chance to get autographs from Earthquakes players Oswaldo Alanís, Carlos Fierro and Chofís Lopez.

“The Earthquakes take public health seriously and we are working in tandem with the County of Santa Clara to continue increasing vaccination levels here in our local community,” said Earthquakes Chief Operating Officer Jared Shawlee in a statement. “By hosting a family-friendly event and offering unique experiences, we’re hoping to provide access for individuals that have been unable to receive the vaccination up to this point.”

“The single best thing we can all do to fight COVID is to get vaccinated,” said Dr. Marty Fenstersheib, COVID-19 Vaccine Officer for the County of Santa Clara. ”We’re excited to partner again with the Earthquakes on a family event that makes it fun and easy to get your shot.”

I’ve been vaccinated and I encourage anyone who is eligible to receive it and who hasn’t gotten it for any reason to get off the fence and do it, no judgment. This event the Quakes are throwing is a great opportunity, and in getting vaccinated, you’re protecting yourself from coronavirus but also helping to protect everyone else, too. So please, head out on June 10 to PayPal Park if you need your shot but haven’t taken the plunge just yet.
