Following a streak of three undefeated matches, the San Jose Earthquakes suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of the Portland Timbers on Thursday, marking their 10th loss of the season. Cristhian Paredes broke the deadlock in the closing minutes of the first half, and shortly into the second half, Evander doubled the Timbers' lead. However, just two minutes later, Matthew Hope managed to pull one back, bringing the score to 2-1 and igniting hopes of a comeback. Unfortunately, the Earthquakes, often referred to as the Goonies, were unable to find the elusive equalizer.
